Three things I am LOVING right now, Part 2: Sketching
Hey there, creative souls!
Aside from massage, hobbies are a great way to help your body unwind from life’s stressors! Today, I'm excited to share the second gem on my list of current favorites: Art for Kids Hub on YouTube. Let me take you on a journey of rediscovering the joy of sketching and coloring, thanks to this wonderful channel.
Enter: Art for Kids Hub
Around 2018, life got…busy, and my sketching and coloring hobby took a backseat. This year, feeling the need to reconnect with my creative side, I attempted to pick up a pencil again. However, I didn’t seem to have the patience needed to start from scratch because I didn’t realize I would have to start from scratch! Enter Art for Kids Hub – a very familiar friend from my homeschooling days.
Why I Love Art for Kids Hub:
These 5-minute sketching lessons are brilliantly simple, making art accessible for anyone, regardless of skill level. Since I had stopped drawing for about 4+ years now, I’ve been struggling to pick up my pencil and sketchbook again. But Art for kids hub has helped me enjoy sketching without feeling pressure for things to look “perfect.”
The step-by-step instructions are perfect for those like me, easing back into art. It provides structure while leaving room for personal creativity.
And frankly, engaging in these elementary-level sketches brings me a sense of peace and relaxing entertainment – a perfect escape from the constant go-go-go of our every-day lives.
Embracing the innocence and simplicity of elementary school-level art has been surprisingly therapeutic. It's not about perfection; it's about the joy of creating something from scratch and the simplicity of coloring it in. Something about it just helps me to unwind after a long work day.
I’d love to hear how YOU unwind after a long day at work? Do you practice any creative activities? Do you have a favorite show you binge? (Let me know so I can watch it too!) P.S. I just finished watching the first season of Supacell on Netflix. It started off slow, but I was hooked at the end!
Stay tuned for the final installment of my current favorites, coming up next. Spoiler alert: it involves a little bit of adventure!
Keep on Creating,
Valerie
